What Are You Good At?
Whenever you start a blog or a website or a new venture, it is always important to ask yourself, "what am I good at?" For me, the answer is fairly straightforward. I'm really good at making people laugh, at writing, and at listening. But I'm also good at being a self-depreciative plus size single woman in her 30's. I'm killing the game on that last one.
There are so many struggles plus size women face on the daily. Ideally, I'd like to not be plus size someday, but for now I am a whopping size 20, clocking in over 300 pounds and yes, it is the heaviest I have ever been in my entire life. Fortunately, this blog isn't a diary of self-loathing and jokes at my own expense. No, in fact it is a resource for the curvy girls everywhere.
I'd like to call it the Plus Size Girl's Guide to the Universe or something catchy and hopefully not copyright infringing like that. We'll explore premium products that make our plus size lives easier, sexier, and more productive. We will also discuss some of the more common situations plus size women find themselves in. For example, do you remember the first time you had to worry about if you'd fit in a booth or in a seat at a restaurant? How about the first time you were booted off a rollercoaster because the lap bar wouldn't lock in over your thick thighs? (both have happened to me)
Has your mom ever said "perhaps you should go to the firehouse and see if there are any men there who wouldn't mind an overweight girl?"
Okay, remember, I said I wasn't going to joke at my expense, granted that happened too. Anyway, I have a lot of insecurity about my weight and all the emotional baggage that comes with it. However, I also have equal parts sass, confidence, and curiosity. So, let's have some fun together!
